As an electricity company NamPower understands that electricity invariably plays an important role in the socio-economic development of Namibia. NamPower's main sources of power are the thermal, coal-fired Van Eck Power Station outside Windhoek, the hydroelectric plant at the Ruacana Falls in the Kunene Region, and the standby diesel-driven Paratus Power Station at Walvis Bay.
